Writing & Editing Services
Writing can be daunting. Some people thrive with jotting down first drafts and then struggle to re-organize ideas. Others have a hard time committing to putting words on a page. Sometimes you don’t have enough time to put into the writing process, and sometimes you simply need some critical feedback. Wherever you are in the writing process, ReConnect can help organize and present your ideas in ways that are suited to your audience.

Knowledge Synthesis & Translation
Environmental challenges are inherently complicated and often contested. In fields where research is continually evolving, it can be critical to gather an up to date understanding of points of tension and agreement. Making sense of those trends can be most valuable when interpreted in light of policies and planning. ReConnect helps identify worldviews and narratives in ways that facilitate the development of effective and durable approaches for addressing environmental challenges

This collaborative effort brought together global experts to develop tools and guidance that support more equitable and fair marine conservation practices. Download the IUCN sponsored guidebook to explore and learn more.
Best Practices for Marine Protected Area Network Monitoring
Client: Nature United
Role: Project and Synthesis Lead
Many are familiar with Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), but possibly not MPA Networks (MPANs) - spanning vast marine areas, incorporating both protected and non-protected areas, and requiring collaboration among multiple governance partners. In northern British Columbia, a groundbreaking effort is underway to establish the Great Bear Sea / Northern Shelf Bioregion (NSB) MPAN - a partnership between 15 First Nations, the Government of Canada, and the Government of British Columbia (https://mpanetwork.ca/).
To support this initiative, Nature United engaged ReConnect Consulting to lead the synthesis of best practices and real-world experiences in social and ecological monitoring strategies. Through a literature review and five global case studies, we explored key challenges and solutions for large-scale marine monitoring.
Stewards of the Coastline: 2025 State of Coastal Community-managed Areas in the Southwest Indian Ocean
Client: WWF South West Indian Ocean, CORDIO East Africa
Role: Project co-lead (with Graham Epstein)
ReConnect Consulting led the development of the Stewards of the Coastline report, the first comprehensive assessment of community-managed coastal areas in the Southwest Indian Ocean. Drawing insights from 52 sites across Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar, and South Africa, the report highlights strategies for strengthening governance, including tenure security, tailored solutions, diversified funding, capacity building, and effective use of data. Coral Reefs and People: Whitepapers for the Vibrant Oceans Initiative
Funder: Vibrant Oceans Initiative (now the Bloomberg Ocean Initiative)
Client: Wildlife Conservation Society
Role: Co-lead Author and Project Coordinator
ReConnect Consulting co-led the development process of two whitepapers (outlining, coordinating co-authors, drafting content, editing) that explored the vital connections between coral reefs and the communities that depend on them, highlighting pathways for sustainable management and improved human well-being.

End User Survey for Key Biodiversity Area Information in Canada
Client: Wildlife Conservation Society Canada
Role: Project lead
ReConnect Consulting collaborated with WCS Canada and partners to explore how Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) are understood and used within the Canadian conservation community. Through interviews and an online survey, the team gathered insights on how conservation professionals interpret KBA data and how it can guide action.
Our findings are helping the KBA Canada coalition enhance outreach, strengthen partnerships, and better integrate KBA information into conservation planning.
